Accessibility

What we have done, what we know is not right yet, and how to reach a person if this site gets in your way.

Our aim

We want anyone to be able to read about our loan programs, download our forms and submit an application, whatever technology they use to browse the web. We work toward the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA as our practical standard.

We do not claim that this site fully conforms to that standard. This statement describes an ongoing effort, not a finished one.

What we have done

The site is built so it can be operated entirely from a keyboard, including the menus, the loan program browser, the frequently asked questions and every form. Keyboard focus is always visible, and the mobile menu keeps focus inside it while it is open.

Every image carries alternative text. Every form field has a label that is properly connected to it, required fields are marked, and when something is wrong the error is announced and linked to the field it belongs to. Headings follow a logical order so the page structure makes sense to a screen reader.

Text and background colours were measured against their real rendered backgrounds in both the light and dark versions of the site. Pages reflow without sideways scrolling down to a 320-pixel screen and at 200% text size. Animation respects your system setting for reduced motion, and the moving trust banner stops and rearranges itself into readable rows if you have that setting on.

What we have deliberately not done

We have not installed an accessibility overlay, toolbar or widget. These are the floating icons some websites use to claim accessibility. They work by adding a layer of software on top of a page and guessing at corrections, and they frequently interfere with the screen readers and other assistive software people already use and have configured to their own needs.

We took the view that fixing the site itself is the honest approach, even though it is less visible than a button.

Known limitations

Downloadable forms. The PDF application and disclosure forms on our Documents page carry internal structure and a declared language, but we have not had them independently checked for reading order, table structure or form-field labelling. Several are standard industry forms we do not author. If any document on this site is difficult for you to use, call us and we will take you through it or provide the information another way.

Embedded maps. The office maps on our Contact and About pages are provided by Google. We have given each one a descriptive title, but we do not control what is inside the map itself. Every address and telephone number shown on a map is also written out as text on the same page.

Testing. Our checks have been made with automated tools and manual keyboard testing. The site has not yet been tested by people who use screen readers and other assistive technology day to day, and automated testing alone does not find every barrier.

Tell us if something does not work

If any part of this website prevents you from finding what you need, please tell us. You will reach a person, and we will help you directly while we work on a fix.

Call (800) 943-1314 during business hours, or email info@uslendingco.com. Please tell us the page, what you were trying to do, and what technology you were using, if you can. We aim to reply within two business days.

You can also do anything on this site over the telephone. If completing a form online is difficult for you for any reason, call us and we will take the details and complete it with you.
